“It was written by the very finger of God”
When we read and study the Bible, we need to have evidence that God breathed it out. That is the reason why it will always work and, as Isaiah 55:11 says:
So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
Therefore, we can have confidence that God is going to validate himself by keeping His word—whatever the Bible says.
Even though there is evidence that the Bible comes from God, the Bible itself revelals to us in Psalms 14:1 that “The fool has said in his heart,
‘There is no God’”—not in his mind!
That’s important to know. Some people won’t believe that the Bible comes from God simply because they don’t want to believe it—in spite of all the evidence in the world!
2 Timothy 3:16 says:
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”
The Bible is not authoritative because a group of men gathered a bunch of letters together. What makes the Bible authoritative is that God breathed it and the Holy Spirit anointed it. God spoke to men in visions, dreams, and audibly. God himself wrote the ten commandments with His finger!
Jesus, being tempted by the devil, said to him in Matthew 4:4 “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’” The Bible was breathed by God. It’s written from the words that come from His mouth.
