Miles McPherson: Who’s in control of your life?

We all want things to go our way. It’s a natural desire and inclination – but one that is in direct opposition to God’s super-natural desires. You see, if we give our lives to God, we’re telling Him, “God, I give you full control. I want to do things your way.

One really good practice is to surround yourself with people who will challenge you. People who will “jam you up!” Psalm 19:12a says, “Who can understand his errors?” We all have blindspots, so we need people that will be honest with us, and point them out. We need people who will tell us when we’re putting our own desires before God’s.

The Bible says in Matthew 7:21, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” Many people who think they’re going to heaven actually aren’t. And what is the difference? That God’s children actually do God’s will.

As you go through your day, ask yourself: “Am I doing this my way, or am I doing this God’s way?
