He’s trying to destroy your relationship!
“If I was the devil,” said Miles, “one of the first things I would do is distort your concept of your relationship with God. If I can break your relationship with God, I got you.”
The Bible says in Psalm 34:19 that, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” If your relationship with God is severed, then who can protect and deliver you from your afflictions?
“Probably the second thing I would do,” continued Miles, “(is) I would destroy your concept of your relationship with each other, especially between man and a woman. If I can do that, then I can destroy your families and… destroy people.”
When God made man, He acknowledged that it wasn’t good for man to be alone. God is three in one – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – the three have relationship and unity with each other.
In the same way, we were created for relationship, first with God, and then with those around us. That’s why the greatest commandment is to love God [Matt. 22:37-38], and the second greatest is to love your neighbor as yourself [v. 39].
“But if we don’t have a relationship with Him, that’s not gonna happen, and if we have distorted relationships with each other, it’s not gonna happen.”
CHALLENGE: Analyze your relationship with God and others. Is there a relationship that has been distorted? Ask God to restore it, and begin to reflect God’s character in those relationships.
