Are comfortable with spiritual darkness?

In his Sunday message, Miles told a story about one time when he was reading in his office and his wife walked by and asked him why he was reading in the dark. “It’s not dark in here,” he said. Then she turned the light on. Immediately he realized he was wrong – it was dark!

He had gotten used to the dark. The darkness had become comfortable to him.

“There are so many people who are living in spiritual darkness, but they have become comfortable with it, and they have no idea the spiritual life that they could have if you were obedient.”

Look at your life and ask yourself: “Have I become comfortable with some form of spiritual darkness?”

If the answer is yes, ask God to forgive you and shine his light on your sin, that you may become blameless and innocent, as it says in Psalm 19.

Psalm 19:12-14:

Who can understand his errors?

Cleanse me from secret faults.

Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins;

Let them not have dominion over me.

Then I shall be blameless,

And I shall be innocent of great transgression.

Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart

Be acceptable in Your sight,

O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.
